Dental Bridge, whats involved? and would it work for me??……?

Question by Jj J: Dental Bridge, whats involved? and would it work for me??……?
I have a phobia of the dentist, so going there is very traumatic for me. Ive always got sedated in the past.

I have a canine tooth which has no teeth either side of it, i have a partial denture that the NHS made up 5 years ago which is poor in colour, poor in quality and poor fitment.

Im thinking to go private and ask them to try give me some sort of dental bridge, Before i start sheading alot of money… Does anyone know if they would or what type of bridge and whats involved that they would use? as i said my canine tooth will be the support and i want the fill the gap either side. The canine appears to be healthy. Answers greatly appriciated

Answer by hornchurchmale
this is really a question you need to ask the dentist as only professional appraisal and answer will be any real use. as I understating it, a bridge needs to be from supporting tooth or teeth and using just one to offer support to another two will probably put too much strain on the canine with eventual failure. a bridge After all means ‘from one side to another’ eg two supports at least over a crossing. ( gap)
The fear is very understandable and I used to suffer that too . ( still hate dentists ) any decent dentist will be able to inform you what exactly is involved. the possible outcome and any risks involved. it isn’t cheap but I had one for many years until the supporting tooth /gum erosion reached a point where i had to lose both tooth and bridge.

Should i have the work done and how much would it cost?

Question by nurburg: Should i have the work done and how much would it cost?
I am 24. I have had 8 fillings in my life, i went to the dentist last week and i need another 7 fillings and i am going to lose one of my front teeth and need root canal on it. The fillings that i did have previous, some are loose and have holes in again. I am in pain all the time and haven’t been able to chew on one side for years. I have very good oral hygene the dentist said but i used to drink alot of fruit juice which im told has contributed to the problem. My teeth have been like this all my life. I also have unusually large nerves in my teeth too which is why they often hurt. They are making me so unhappy. I feel it is useless to try and keep repairing them all the time and it doesn’t help that i have a very big phobia of the dentist.

I am wondering if there is something available which will do the following: I want all my teeth taken out including the nerves in my gums. I want some sort of permanent false teeth put in. a bit like dentures but they are screwed in somehow and never can be removed. I have thought seriously about this. How much would it cost to have this done.? the money is irrelevant really i will pay whatever it takes. is this available?
Thanks

There is nothing like your own teeth. I would have the cavities filled, the root canal done and do whatever you can to maintain your own teeth. You are only 24 and have many years to go if you get dentures now. Dentures are usually done as a last resort. And any good dentist will tell you that.
I also had a severe phobia of the dentist, I hadn’t gone in 20 years! I have found a painless dentist who knows he’s dealing with a coward, and who has a wonderful staff. Now, it’s not my favorite place to be, but I truly don’t mind going any more. After the first heavy duty cleaning – they had to do it in four parts – I now go every 4 months – I don’t wait for the 6 months as recommended. I figure every 4 months, means less cleaning each time I’m in the chair.
Try to find a dentist you’re happy with, there is no reason for you to be in any pain.

As a new denture wearer I would appreciate some advice, thanks?

Question by : As a new denture wearer I would appreciate some advice, thanks?
I only have to wear top dentures and as I have 4 teeth at the top the denture was supposed to be small.I paid around £400.There is still a very thin metal plate that fits on to part of the roof of my mouth.I was told I had to get used to it,but it stops me talking depending on which word is spoken. Will this ever improve? Then have fitted 2 awful metal “hooks” that if I am not carefull rip the side of my mouth. They are supposed to clip on to teeth, but I use the glue stuff. How can I get this off the roof of my mouth when I take tham out

Best answer:

Answer by Chocco B
i have a metal clip on mine and dont use a dental glue.

just brush roof of mouth when you brush teeth, comes off easily.

The clip wont shred ur mouth, and you speak will improve in a couple of weeks.

would u can kiss with canker sores?

Question by me abraça: would u can kiss with canker sores?
do not confuse canker sores with cold sores

CANKER SORES occur on the inside of the mouth, usually on the inside of the lips, cheeks, and/or soft palate.

COLD SORES are caused by herpes simplex virus. This disease, also known as oral herpes or fever blisters, can occur anywhere on the body. Most commonly, herpes infection occurs on the outside of the lips and the gums, and much less frequently on the inside the mouth

You can not pass canker sores from person to person because they are not caused by a virus or by bacteria. Many health professionals, however, advise people with canker sores not to kiss. This is because bacteria from another person’s mouth could potentially infect open canker sores.

I have still done it. Its pretty low risk, as long as the other person isnt bleeding from their mouth I would think its fine.

Which physio would you choose?

Question by chucky: Which physio would you choose?
I visited two very different hospital physiotherapists recently and have long term shoulder problems. Guy ‘A’ has started treating me and seems new to it and not really sure what he’s doing. Guy ‘B’ however seems to really know his stuff and I’m really confident that he may get me healthy and back in action quickly. I can travel to A’s surgery really easily in 15mins, but B’s surgery is 45mins drive and I can’t afford a car and nobody can give me a ride. Public transport is an option but it will take more than three hours of my day (including the session) each time.
By the way, they are my only choices as I can’t afford to go Private at the moment.
What would you do?
Thanks.

Answer by Pat Mcdermott
go with the better provider even if the ride is more inconvenient

talk to your doctor. i’ve had similar symptoms before, though not so drastic. you probably have some type of vaginal/yeast infection. you should seriously tell you’re doctor right away.

How would I go about getting a minora labia reduction?

Question by gravitywontgetyouhigh17: How would I go about getting a minora labia reduction?
I’ve been thinking about this for several years now and come to the decision of having surgery, though I’m not sure how to go about it.

I’m considering the NHS and fyi this isn’t a cosmetic issue it is also to do with health which I have seen numerous doctors about. Should I see my local doctor and see what they say about it? Maybe refer me to a surgen?
If there is anyone who has had this operation, please give your opinions on how it is and whether it is worth it or not.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by Sour
If it’s a health issue have your gyn refer you to someone.

If it’s just cosmetic contact a plastic surgeon
