Pretty sure your fitted with temporary crowns or bridges until the final procedure.

That’s what happened with me when I got my crown. I had a temporary one slapped in until the fitted one was made.

Is it normal that at 23 i have false teeth?

Question by K: Is it normal that at 23 i have false teeth?
I have four false teeth on a denture pallet, i am only 23 and i have always looked after my teeth. I had braces as a child and have always been regular at the dentist but over the last few years have had about 10-15 abscesses and am losing my teeth month by month i have another 3 that are chipped or half broken, its really effecting my esteem, im so embarrassed about it, but i couldn’t look after my teeth and gums anymore that i have/do. Is this normal as i feel im the youngest person to have false teeth!!!
Yes i brush everyday and floss most days, i lso use specific mouth wash for gum problems. I have weak gums as my father has too and had full dentures at a young age but he was told that it was the dentists years ago that decided that and that he wouldnt have needed them all out just because of one infection…i just feel so ugly. People comment on my teeth being perfect all the time as my front teeth are nice, im just worried its a matter of time before i loose them now!!! Can i create stronger teeth in a short space of time, i mean can i rescue any damage done???

What standard of teeth is needed to be ‘dentally fit’ for Denplan?

Question by PH46: What standard of teeth is needed to be ‘dentally fit’ for Denplan?
After being told I need two root canals in 3 months because I have exceeded the amount entitled on the NHS – I have just finished a 5 week course of treatment that I need some insurance for the future. Because my gums are aching where I need the treatment obviosly means I need treatment asap, but how good do your teeth need to be for Denplan care? I have 8 fillings, all recently done, a partial denture for 6 teeth and need the root treatment – what band, if ever would my teeth be placed in? (I’m considering getting the roots done in Poland too

Question to all those out there with false teeth?

Question by Clare: Question to all those out there with false teeth?
Im 20, have really bad teeth which cause me a lot of pain. Have loads of fillings.

I wear a partial denture for 1 of my front teeth which had to be pulled out.

Tonight i managed to snap the side off one of my teeth without realising.
Im just fed up of my teeth, i want to go to the dentist and say pull them all out and give me false teeth. Everything i eat hurts my teeth, crunchy things hurt, cold things hurt, hot things hurt.

If you have false teeth wot would you say are the advantages and disadvantages of them?

Answer by grandpa walleye
It is a shame at age 20 to have to have false teeth. You should be aware that you will have problems with them also. Think of them as you would having an artificial arm. It is better than no arm, but will never function nearly as well as your own arm did. The upper is easier to get used to and fits with suction. The lower just floats around and the tongue and floor of the mouth is constantly working against it. That is why it is always much better to save some teeth on the lower to clasp to and help make it more stable. If that can’t be done, perhaps placing a couple of implants that the lower can attach to would also be great. (You can place implants on the upper and do the same thing, but if you were to make a choice, the lower should be the most important). You will have to learn talking and new ways to eat with them. They also will periodically have to be relined to make them fit better as your gums change with time. I wish you good luck and it’s too bad you have had to come to this.

False teeth at a young age ?

Question by vanessa: False teeth at a young age ?
Hi,
I am 19 years old and after receiving root canal treatment on one of my front teeth which failed I have been told that I will need to get a false tooth. I look after my teeth, brush them twice a day, use mouthwash etc but i just have bad teeth. My dentist doesnt offer a bridge or implant on the nhs and says my other teeth are too weak to consider any other options other than a partial denture. I am really feeling down at the thought of having a plate in my mouth at such a young age and i am really self concious about my teeth. Does anyone else have or know anyone that is young with false teeth ?

thanks so much

Answer by fusepark
You need to find a way to see another dentist and then an implant specialist. Most dentists in the US would be hesitant to place a denture in such a young person, as dentures tend to cause gradual bone loss and more problems over time. I don’t know how the NHS works, but there must be some sort of appeals board you can turn to.

And if there ever is a vote to fluoridate more of the UK’s water supply, vote yes. That is likely why you’ve had such trouble with your teeth.

Dental advice needed! Just had three teeth extracted and…..?

Question by Sarah: Dental advice needed! Just had three teeth extracted and…..?
stitches were needed. This was done by my (new and rather young!) dentist in his surgery. No knock out, just local anaesthetic. Three injections to the roof of my mouth and I lost count at three in my gum line! I have had a fair bit of dental work done and my share of teeth being extracted but when I agreed to this course of treatment I was assured that all would be well in time for my holiday next week. I have a mouth full of blood and will, no doubt, scare my son and his mates when I collect him from school. I look like the bride of frankenstein, or someone equally bloody! What can I do apart from salt water mouth wash to speed up the healing process so I am not a toothless wonder in 10 days? Call me Gummy, go on, I can larf at myself! The crazy bit is,he gave me my new denture to bring home for my back teeth and I am totally bemused as to where and how it fits. I know where I wanna stick the darned thing!! And I was expecting some antibiotics and/or painkillers…maybe mouthwash…nope, just start the salt mouthwash from tomorrow…so I gotta scare the local kids till then cos I cannot stop the blood coming outta the side of my mouth. You made and enemy today,Mr, Dentist!!!! I am in the U.K, btw. Cheers and Have Fun…I struggle to say Keep Smiling…but I will…so Keep Smiling ;0)
these teeth were VERY stubborn…came out in bits and still are…bits falling from my gumline…took him an hour (just short of) to do this…never has having teeth removed been so…YUCKY!!…and I have had my fair share of extractions ;0)

Teeth advice, do you think its reasonable to ask my dentist this…?

Question by Clare: Teeth advice, do you think its reasonable to ask my dentist this…?
My teeth are in really bad condition. The top ones in particular give me a lot of trouble. I wear a partial denture as I had to have a front tooth out.
The 2 smaller teeth either side of the very front ones are dead and have swelling at the root or something, they need root canals which i am 100% sure im not having done.
My left canine tooth has snapped in half.
And the molars at the back have big fillings in them which cause a lot of sensitivity and pain.

Im scared of the dentist, I get very panicy when I have to go there.

As my teeth need a lot of work done and give me a lot of pain Id like to ask my dentist if he can pull my top teeth out and give me a denture. As i already wear a partial I don’t think it would take much getting used to. Does this sound reasonable or will he think im crazy

Answer by Chrissie R
It’s not an unreasonable request to make, as long as you are happy with it.

If your teeth are in quite a bad way and you think this is the solution then it should be fine. it could save you a lot of pain (and money) if you have them removed.

Some teeth advice please.?

Question by Clare: Some teeth advice please.?
Im 20. I’ve never really had good teeth, when I was young my mum nagged and nagged me to look after my teeth, which had the opposite effect!

About 6 months ago one of my top front teeth was badly decayed and split in half, I was supposed to have a root canal and have it crowned but when my dentist tried to root canal it he said the decay had gone too far up the root or something so I ended up having it pulled out and getting a partial denture instead.

I constantly get pain with my teeth. I think every single one of my teeth has a filling in it, more than 1 in some of them. They’re very sensitive and I can barely eat anything without pain. I get really bad toothache every few months, its just come on again today, no amount of pain killers helps. It keeps me awake all night. I think its an abscess, I get them a lot.

What im thinking of doing is going to the dentist and saying pull them all out, or at least just the top ones.

A few days ago the side broke off of one of my top canine teeth. Also the 2 smaller top ones at the side of the very front ones need to have root canals and possibly be crowned.

I know people say to keep your natural teeth as long as possible, but when they’re in such bad condition, need a lot of work, and are causing so much pain surely getting a denture would benefit me. Advice please…

Best answer:

Answer by BlowBubblesNotBombs
That’s really unfortunate, especially as you’re so young. I would really advise you to keep your natural teeth for as long as possible, and immediately seek help from a dentist. Your best option might be to get porcelain veneers but they can be extremely expensive..but I suppose it’s the price you pay for not looking after your teeth :(
Your only other option would be dentures, but it will affect your confidance for the rest of your life, as well as your relationships etc. Consider saving up for veneers x

Im in the uk and im 28 yrsold and i work partime.
Over the years i have not looked after my teeth and most of them are rotten and have never caused me any problems until now. They are getting worse by the day and are getting very painful.
I want to know if i can have them all taken out and have dentures in without paying for it all in one as i dont have the £700 – £1000 that iv been quoted to have them done.
Could i have them done on the NHS even though i work part time?
Please hepl as im in pain and i know its my own fault but this is were i am now and i need advice.

Answer by XevaX
DO NOT pull them all out…pulling teeth out is always the very last resort any dentist is taught to do.(your dentist MAY insist that u have SOME of them pulled out as these may just be hopeless cases…but never all of them) you’re also still very young…u wanna look like granny at 28?? i don’t think so… i think u should have the most urgent teeth treated first.. since u mentioned that most of them are “rotten” u seem in a bad need of crowns and root canals…these are expensive, but pay what u can for now and if u can’t have the NHS accept ur case, although i’ll doubt that since u are basically classified as an emergency. Again, PLEASE do not pull all ur teeth out…take anti-pain medication for now and use antiseptic mouthwashes, brush your teeth and gums EVEN IF your gums start to bleed…bleeding gums are caused by the acclumulation of plaque and calculus (hard, yellowish matter ) by brushing u are removing this layer and gradually the bleeding will decrease.

i hope i helped even a little bit :)

teeth problems whats my future?

Question by Sammy M: teeth problems whats my future?
im 15 years old, and ive eaten sweet things all my life, also i had a tounge piercing and ive had 2 teeth out because of it, and the back all of my teeth hurt, ive been using ‘Arm + Hammer Enamel Care Toothpaste’ but its getting worse, i used to use sensodyne. (i know evreything is my own fault.) but i want to know what does my future hold? will i have dentures when im like 25?!?
please help, im in agony, can anyone suggest anything to prevent that?
by the way, i removed the tounge bar about a year ago,

Best answer:

Answer by personal
I would advise removing the piercing for starters. Tongue piercing could cause you infections, speech impediments, breathing problems and broken teeth. Infection can cause the tongue to swell, blocking or restricting the airway. In addition, bacteria under the tongue often spread quickly and can lead, in extreme cases, to the potentially fatal toxic shock syndrome or blood poisoning. Other potential dangers include deep cyst formation, scarring, damage to veins and nerves and neuromas – overgrowths of nerve tissue.
SO Eventually you can loose all your teeth, but to be honest, that happens in extreme cases.

Some orthodontists refuse to do any work on people with pierced tongues because of its effect on muscle position and the possible risk of encouraging speech impediments.
