Will mini implants to fixture dentures be any cheaper because of the recession?

Question by StuPot: Will mini implants to fixture dentures be any cheaper because of the recession?

Answer by Wendi
I work in a dental office and what I have see is that the mini implants tend to fail. Whether its because of not enough bone support or just not being strong enough to hold the denture in place. I would get a second opinion on the mini implants. You can call around to offices that do both and ask the dentist what he thinks about them. That would probably be your best bet. I hope this helped.. Good Luck

Is “posterior tooth replacement” the same as implants? PTR is where they put pins in holes bored in your jaw!

Question by Brainded: Is “posterior tooth replacement” the same as implants? PTR is where they put pins in holes bored in your jaw!
Sadly I now have to contemplate “Posterior Tooth Replacement” for 4 teeth in a row in my upper side jaw (with more to follow as time takes its toll) at an estimated cost of £2,000 here in the U.K. Has anyone experience of this bone drilling & pin fitting procedure (from a patients,NOT the dentists point of view? Sounds horrendous but just how bad is it? Furthermore what about the living with the bridge piece afterwards? e.g:- Does it stay in place, does it irritate when particles get below it,(as they surely must),can it be removed O.K. for cleaning at night, etc, etc?
My only alternative is an upper denture but these have to have a plate across the palate and of course gravity wants to make it fall out – an unpalatable thought (pun very much intended!).
Serious answers only please! (some of the flippant answers on Yahoo Questions can be mildly funny but the majority are a waste
of space and time but I suppose can’t be filtered out so we’re stuck with them unfortunately for all

They are 2 different things. Implants are meant to stay in your mouth as a permanent solution to the problem. The ptr solution is ok, but they can be removed a lot more easily becasue they are opnly held in with tiny little metal pins.

Teeth Implants in UK (ADP Dentist)?

Question by Dan: Teeth Implants in UK (ADP Dentist)?
Has anyone had teeth implants in the UK? If so, how much did it cost as you can not get this treatment on the NHF?

I think I might beable to get a grant to cover some of the costs, anyway, if anyone could answer this seriously I will be greatful.

I am hoping to have all teeth done to replace horrid dentures.

It’s been a while since I worked in the dental hospital, but in 2002 or there abouts it cost £80 to have the peg implanted and about the same again to have the crown fashioned.

Thinking on getting implants rather than a new denture!?

Question by GIZMO: Thinking on getting implants rather than a new denture!?
All information on these are welcome please.
Just like to add, I pay for all my dental treatment

Best answer:

Answer by Sir Nathan.King of Hippies
Well, I still have all my natural teeth but if ever I lost a lot and it was a choice between dentures and implants I would have the implants.

I know they cost a lot but in the long run I think they work and look much better.

I don’t know if they’re available on the NHS but they should be. They’re more like natural teeth and no need for anybody to have to have dentures.

Oh I see. Wasn’t sure if you meant on NHS. They cost around £1000 – £1500 a tooth I think but well worth it in the long run.

It’s about time they became cheaper though.

When dealing with implants you want somebody with lots of experience and practice.
They are time consuming and expensive but since they last a lifetime they’re worth the hassle and price.
I’m not familiar with British dentistry except the jokes but you can usually finance the procedures and stretch it out over time.
The implants need to be placed so the bone will grow around the implants then the crowns need to be made and attached to the implants. Under optimium conditions this usually takes about 6-8 months. If the missing teeth are visible sometimes you can wear a temporary flapper for when you go out.

Confused about Implants?? :(?

Question by ѕкιттℓєѕ: Confused about Implants?? :( ?
I’ve had my first stage dental implants placed around 5 months ago. For around two months they were fine but then I had a second degree infection form on my gum. This was healed by prescribed antibiotics. Just recently one of the screws has appeared through my gum, followed by another infection around it. I’m off to the dentist to get more antibiotics however i’m fearing the worst and i’m very worried that i’m going to have to go through the procedure again. Any ideas what’s going on?

Answer by Monstermunch
You need to talk to someone about this. It depends whether the infection is gun or bone related but it sounds odd that the first part has appeared like that.

Did your ordinary dentist fit it using a full surgical technique or did you visit a dental surgeon that does implanting all the time.

Start asking questions firstly with your own dentist and if you are not happy with the discussion ask to be referred to someone else for discussion.

But remember that the coming thought he gum is unusual the bone will have set the first stage in place by now and you would have been close to second stage soon and if you had the same method I had where they cut the gum to access them again then it will not matter to much as they would access them anyway.

But no way would I go for second stage until the infection is cleared.
Perhaps rather than one course of antibiotics your dentist should be considering using a ‘double whammy’ type approach to cover all the potential bacteria. Unpleasant to take but would be worth it in the end.

Why Do Dentists Say Implants Are More Cost Effective In The Long Run?

Question by nutnut12342002: Why Do Dentists Say Implants Are More Cost Effective In The Long Run?
When they are not really are they?

i have to pay £30 ($ 60) every 3 months to make sure i’m cleaning it right, £5 ($ 10) for brushes and floss every 3 months.

£16 every 6 months to see the dentist

and then £120 ($ 240) for whiting every year and i have to have that now to match the colour of my teeth.

so i am talking a dental bill of £270 ($ 540) a year for life until i die for having 1 dental implant.

i must admit i never thought that id have to go throuhg all this cleaning shite when i paid £1,900 to have it put in, i always thought once you had an implant thats it and forget about it.

WHAT DO DENTURE IMPLANTS COST?

Question by Joseph M: WHAT DO DENTURE IMPLANTS COST?
What does it cost to have teeth removed and dental implant dentures put in?

Best answer:

Answer by grandpa walleye
In the US, each implant for a denture is around $ 2000 – $ 2500. You will need at least 2 on the upper and 2 on the lower. Dentures to snap over the implants will be around $ 2500 for each one. Don’t know about the extractions. It depends on how hard they will be to get out and if you want to be put under. Figure around $ 175 per tooth.

anyone no of a dental clinic near s wales or west where implants are not sky high price?

Answer by painfredoc
All implant procedures are relatively expensive, even when done in Mexico. Ask the dentist about possible breakage, etc. You’re facing major costs with implants. Ask about alternative treatment & costs. The decision remains yours. Most dentists will arrange a payment plan for you. Good luck! :)
