I work in a dental office and what I have see is that the mini implants tend to fail. Whether its because of not enough bone support or just not being strong enough to hold the denture in place. I would get a second opinion on the mini implants. You can call around to offices that do both and ask the dentist what he thinks about them. That would probably be your best bet. hi my mum is 62 and need’s new denture’s and i was wondering if she would have to pay for them on the NHS or would they be free and if she had to pay how much would it coat

I’m sure they are not for free, check the info directory and call, they should be able to give you the cost over the phone.

Ok so i have a little swelling of the gum where there is no tooth. Am sure this happened because of my denture which is like 1 year old. Now i have a little annoying pain but nothing too bad. The gum looks like its growing or something. Now if it was abcess or infection then you could see it right and it doesnt happen inside then gum where there is no tooth right? my face is not swollen or anythng and i didnt even take pain killers so is this normal and would it go down if i dont wear the denture for a while?.

I think it would be best to go to your dentist instead of asking on Yahoo. Because you never know of someone is going to give you an accurate answer with those kind of things you know?

Lower partial dentures?

I had 5 extractions a couple of days ago and it was then replaced with a Immediate partial denture. Last night was the first time I took them out, I had no problems getting them out. The problem I’m having this morning is putting them back in. I’ve tried and tried and I’m not having any luck. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, I was never shown the proper way of putting my partials back in. I’ve left a voice message for my dentist but right now I’m just frustrated. Am I making a bigger deal than necessary and is it supposed to be an easy process? I’m desperate for some advice, thank you..
Thanks everyone, I’m still waiting for a call back from my dentist. I have to agree that maybe I was told to take them out way too soon. I’ve never had dentures before of any kind so I shouldn’t have to think for myself. I should have been told the right thing to do in the first place by my dentist. So now, I’m ticked. :(

Don’t panic….they will go in one way only and sometimes it can be tricky. Wait for your dentist to call and then have them show you the correct insertion path. A few days from now you will be amazed how easy it is and will laugh at your dilemma today. Good Luck

Way too much!! I was quoted for dentures here in the UK and I bloody nearly fainted,,my wife who is a Filipina said to wait till we have a vacation in the Philippines,,so I waited and got my dentures in Manila,,my point being,,I flew to the Philippines and had a nice vacation,,fitted with new dentures and flew home and it was still cheaper than what the dentist here quoted me by at least £400,,so why not get a quote from your dentist,,then why not treat yourself to a nice holiday in the Philippines and it will still be cheaper

There are full dentures and there are partial dentures, crowns, veneers, implants, etc….

The first step is taking a mold impression of your teeth and x-rays then take it from there!
Dental Prosthodontic appointments are very tedious and tiresome, You might need multiple appointments to complete all the necessary dental work needed.

No. They won’t fit. Each set of dentures is custom made by a dentist for a reason. We study for years to learn how to make the things!!! OF course it’s not a case of one size fits all!!!!!!!

To pay out around double the cost for Private, I have to ask what are the differences over NHS. Do you need to use your own nhs dentist or can you shop around. Mind you nhs dentists are a rare breed in my part of the world!

IF YOU LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO DO YOUR DENTURES, YOU CAN USE YOUR DENTIST, AND JUST THINK YOU WON’T HAVE NO MORE TOOTH ACHES AND THAT. BUT YOU CAN NO LONER CHEW YOUR FAVORITE GUM, THEY STICK TO IT. I HAVE THEM, IT HAS A LOT OF ADVANTAGE AND ALOT OF DISADVANTAGES.
