What could this possibly be?
Question by layla: What could this possibly be?
Hi all,
Been going through a lot lately(family/relatives stuff, school stuff) and I kinda don’t know whats wrong with me…
So ever since my first period when I was 12 1/2 yrs old, I’ve never had a regular cycle. The first couple of years, I would have a period one month and maybe not another for two months or so. My mom scheduled a gyn when I was 13 but on the day of my appointment I got my period ( you cant imagine how excited I was). I have this ‘irrational fear”, my mom calls it, of gynecologists. I just don’t like anyone all up in my business you know? Its uncomfortable.
Anyways, three years ago I started getting regular periods for like six months. Then the periods just started getting longer and longer. First 10 days, then 15 and so on. Now I have period lasting a month and a half! And my periods are always about three weeks apart.
I’m turning 20 soon and I’ve seen some changes. Since starting college (1 1/2 yrs ago), I gained about 15 pounds, seen an increase in facial hair (darker upper lip and chin), moodier, I just want to sleep all the time, constant headaches, crave sweets so much more.
I really don’t want to go to a gyn, I just really really don’t.
Any suggestions as to what it could possibly be?
Sorry for the long post and Thank You in advanced

I need urgent help, girls please, could you answer my question, why my period hasn’t come back?
Question by Camelia: I need urgent help, girls please, could you answer my question, why my period hasn’t come back?
My doctor put me on the pill because of horrible period pain, but I had to stop taking it after 5 months, the side effects were a real problem for my body so the doctor told me to stop taking the pill anymore. I am 30 years old and have never taken contraceptives before; this was the first and last time; it has been now 7 months since i am no longer on the pill and my period still hasn’t come back, I have just a very light spotting which I cannot call period, please girls if any of you has experienced this, I just want my normal period to come back, it wasn’t light or heavy before being on the pill, it was normal flow, and I just want it back; since I have no period anymore, I feel headaches and very fainted with no strength in my body; I just want to know why my period stopped completely since I started the pill and why it hasn’t come back even now after 7 months from stopping taking the pill; I need an urgent response, what are these contraceptive pills doing to my body? Had I known, I would have never taken the pill from the beginning. In 4 days time I have an appointment with a gynecologist, I want an explanation from them.
Before taking the pills, I was just fine.

Maybe it is just the bill. When I came off the pill it took 5 months to get my periods back. And even then I was spotting each month. Like you described.

i kissed a guy whose penis is bleeding, I am dead worried, could he be infected with diseases? Please help me?
Question by Dead W: i kissed a guy whose penis is bleeding, I am dead worried, could he be infected with diseases? Please help me?
I am dead worry. I have done the most foolish thing.
I am gay and i met a guy online, he came over and we french kissed for a while. Then when i undressed him i found that his penis is bleeding. (I have not have any contact with his blood at all) I immediately asked him to leave and clean everything he touches.
I asked him and he said he just realised it, and claimed he must got a cut from his zipper. But i know that might just be nonsense.
I am very very worried i have contracted any form of diseases, especially HIV by french kissing him. Yes, i have bleeding gum problem but it wasnt bleeding at that point.
I am sorry, but i am breaking down and crying now. I don’t know why am I so silly.
Please help me by telling me what to do next. How long should i wait before i go for a HIV test? Is there anything i can do, i rinsed my mouth immediately with all sorts of alcohol but i know that’s just stupid actions.
Please help me.

Does anyone know what this could be?
Question by haras1483: Does anyone know what this could be?
I have had pain in my groin which often moves down the back of my leg now for 6 months. At first my GP sent me to a gynaecologist who said he couldn’t see anything wrong there. My GP then said it could be related to the whiplash I was suffering following a car accident in December. The past 3 weeks it has been bothering me a lot as I have a constant dull ache. My GP now says he thinks it is a sports related injury, that I have pulled the muscle and not to worry…but I haven’t been doing any sport and don’t beleive I have pulled a muscle. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? have any ideas what it may be? Thank you in advance.

I work in an imaging (X-rays etc) department, and some people have come in for an ultrasound of their groin in a situation like that, which would show anything like a pulled muscle or even a slight hernia. I should imagine you have already had an ultrasound of your pelvic area from the gynaecologist?
As you say it can hurt down the back of your leg, it might be sciatica from pressure on a nerve coming out from your lower back – an MRI of your lumbar spine would show that up, but private MRIs are expensive and on the NHS you might have a long wait. (This is in the UK!)
Just a few thoughts, hope this helps.

Could I be pregnant? Irregular Periods..?
Question by Rebecca R: Could I be pregnant? Irregular Periods..?
Well i’m 20 years old, I have had irregular periods since I was 16 but they discovered I had a cyst and took it out. Then I was a little more regular as in I get my period around every 4-5 months, sometimes a little more and sometimes less you know that way. Anyway I had unprotected sex on the 26th of December, and just the last couple of days ive been having this like:1. really mild cramping, its not costant but it comes and goes like a kind of heavy feeling that i get when im on my period but lighter. 2. Sensitive to certain smells, for example my mother has a bunch of flowers in the living room..this evening i said mum those flowers smell so strong its making me feel sick. 3. Hungry alot more, especially late at night the last couple of nights ive had to rade the fridge. 4. Peeing a bit more. 5. Heartburn the last 2 days mainly in the evening and feeling slightly sick. .. The one thing i dont have is sore boobs. My last period was the end of October/start of November. Could it be a possibilty i am pregnant or would it be to early to be having these symptoms? I know it is difficult to say when I am irregular. I asked about going on b/c to regulate but my gynaecologist said she would rather me regulate myself after having a cyst.

Could I cure my re-current thrush with supplements and a change in diet?
Question by Freckles: Could I cure my re-current thrush with supplements and a change in diet?
Hello, I’ve been getting re-curring thrush for a while now, and am constantly back and forward to the doctors. I use canesten pessary/pills/cream and nothing seems to work, the symptoms go away then come back like two days later.
I’m so sick of this, and just want to get rid of it for good. I’ve been doing a bit of research and a lot of people have said that changing your diet and taking supplements can help. I admit I have a pretty rubbish diet, I have a sweet tooth and eat quite a lot of bread (toast for breakfast, sandwiched for dinner etc). I also have a pretty low immune system, and seem to catch ever cough/cold going. Would a change in diet help me?? What could you rec commend? Thanks xx
NB: Also, in case anyone says to go to the doctor, I am currently under the care of a gynaecologist as I get pain during sex and bleeding in between periods. They can’t find anything wrong with me at the moment and are sending me for a laparoscopy, but they think it may be related to this reoccurring thrush…

if you are sexually active your partner needs treating too. he needs to use canesten cream at the same time as you have treatment. men can carry the bacteria without any symptoms and so will keep re-infecting you without knowing it.

The Health and Social Care Bill will need emergency surgery if it is to regain the support of patient groups and the professions. This could, and should, have been carried out during the committee stage.
