Should i have the work done and how much would it cost?

Question by nurburg: Should i have the work done and how much would it cost?
I am 24. I have had 8 fillings in my life, i went to the dentist last week and i need another 7 fillings and i am going to lose one of my front teeth and need root canal on it. The fillings that i did have previous, some are loose and have holes in again. I am in pain all the time and haven’t been able to chew on one side for years. I have very good oral hygene the dentist said but i used to drink alot of fruit juice which im told has contributed to the problem. My teeth have been like this all my life. I also have unusually large nerves in my teeth too which is why they often hurt. They are making me so unhappy. I feel it is useless to try and keep repairing them all the time and it doesn’t help that i have a very big phobia of the dentist.

I am wondering if there is something available which will do the following: I want all my teeth taken out including the nerves in my gums. I want some sort of permanent false teeth put in. a bit like dentures but they are screwed in somehow and never can be removed. I have thought seriously about this. How much would it cost to have this done.? the money is irrelevant really i will pay whatever it takes. is this available?
Thanks

There is nothing like your own teeth. I would have the cavities filled, the root canal done and do whatever you can to maintain your own teeth. You are only 24 and have many years to go if you get dentures now. Dentures are usually done as a last resort. And any good dentist will tell you that.
I also had a severe phobia of the dentist, I hadn’t gone in 20 years! I have found a painless dentist who knows he’s dealing with a coward, and who has a wonderful staff. Now, it’s not my favorite place to be, but I truly don’t mind going any more. After the first heavy duty cleaning – they had to do it in four parts – I now go every 4 months – I don’t wait for the 6 months as recommended. I figure every 4 months, means less cleaning each time I’m in the chair.
Try to find a dentist you’re happy with, there is no reason for you to be in any pain.

How much does a wisdom teeth extraction cost?

Question by Mary: How much does a wisdom teeth extraction cost?
I was wondering how much a wisdom teeth extraction would cost if I were to be put under general anaesthetic? And also how much would it cost if I was under local anaesthetic, laughing gas? Thanks! I think my wisdom tooth is coming in because on my left back molar, my gum is swollen but I also have periodontal disease but I got a deep cleaning already so I was wondering what was going on with my gums. If you have any info please leave it in the answer. And does getting your wisdom teeth out hurt?? I’m so scared because I might have to do local. Thanks for the answers!

I paid out of pocket about 3 years ago for one, and I think (I think) it was around $ 250 (for one wisdom tooth).

I might add that it was pretty non-invasive. It had grown fully like a regular tooth, not underneath one, or to the side, or anything complicated like that.

I’m sure a dental receptionist can give you a ballpark figure.

what is cost of obesity surgery in india?

Question by Beverley O: what is cost of obesity surgery in india?
how much does it cost for gastric band surgery in india including flights and accomodation

Best answer:

Answer by Helen
I had my obesity surgery through Forerunners Healthcare Consultants in India I don’t regret it at all I had a baby since then and I’m still able to take the weight off so far i am very happy. The key is to use a reputable surgeon. You want to be carefully screened beforehand to make sure you are a good candidate. Since my surgery I can walk without getting tired, I can play with my son; I can walk down the street with my head held high. I feel pretty for the fist time in years. I was given another shot at life. The surgery is a tool and how well that tool works is up to you!!

I would do it again in a heartbeat. I would recommend to every one who is suffering from the same problems as I did before but I would urge anyone who is interested to seek the best surgeon possible and make the decision based on the surgeon’s recommendations and your own personal goals!! Make sure the reasons for the surgery are the right one. The surgery isn’t for someone who just “wants to be skinny”. Do it for your health, for your life, for family. FOR YOU.

You can checkout their website.

Hope this helps.

Best answer:

Answer by Mr Chops
Way too much!! I was quoted for dentures here in the UK and I bloody nearly fainted,,my wife who is a Filipina said to wait till we have a vacation in the Philippines,,so I waited and got my dentures in Manila,,my point being,,I flew to the Philippines and had a nice vacation,,fitted with new dentures and flew home and it was still cheaper than what the dentist here quoted me by at least £400,,so why not get a quote from your dentist,,then why not treat yourself to a nice holiday in the Philippines and it will still be cheaper

should i have tooth removed or braces first, and what will it cost?

Question by Laura: should i have tooth removed or braces first, and what will it cost?
hi, I’ve just been to the dentist, and it turns out one of my front teeth is dead. At first he said he’d have to do a root canal on it, which would be free on the NHS, but after taking an x-ray realised the tooth is dead, but also fractured above the gum, meaning it’ll have to be removed at some point.

the other problem is that though i had braces at 16 (im 21 now), the other front tooth has moved back to a wonky position, and i would like to have it straightened again, but my dentist told me i’d have to have this done before any fake dental implants for my dead teeth.

so in summary, i was just wondering should i get braces again (just for one tooth!) or are their any other cheaper/quicker solutions. I would really like to have straight teeth. should i wait till after my teeth have been straightened to consider having my tooth extracted?

also, Is a dental implant the only option to replace a missing tooth, and how much does it cost?

Thanks for your help!

Answer by clairenet
It may be possible to do a bridge. Because the missing tooth is in the front though, in order to do a bridge, the dentist would have to drill on several teeth to get good retention on it (help it to be stable and stay in place). Plus, this is a huge commitment. You have to be certain to keep them clean because it is possible to get decay around the teeth in the bridge.
You could also have a one tooth partial denture. This is a removable appliance with the replacement tooth on it. It fits similar to a removable retainer. (Did you have a retainer with a wire on it after your braces?) This also takes commitment. You will need to be sure to wear it since once the tooth is removed, the other teeth can shift and move into the open area. Then the partial wont fit!

The best bet is an implant as a permanent option. It is a little more involved then your other two options, but overall its the most low maintenance. There are also instances when implants don’t take. (Problems with the post that is placed into your bone) Be sure you have all the options and all risks explained in detail so you can be totally informed and confident of your decision. Implants are very expensive. In the $ 5000 range I believe but it depends on your location. Be sure you coordinate your implant surgery with an oral surgeon (to do the post) and a dentist (to do the crown that fits onto the post) so each can give you the best result possible.

As far as what to do first, braces or extraction? Figure out first what you are going to do to have that tooth replaced.
Have you consulted with an orthodontist? Sometimes you can wear a series of 3 or 4 clear trays which move your teeth instead of going through the full braces again. (Your orthodontist could tell you if this is the only thing that needs to be adjusted or if other aspects of your bite has changed.)
Does the look of your teeth bother you? If not, leave the crooked front tooth and concentrate on fixing the damaged one.
Good luck!

Why Do Dentists Say Implants Are More Cost Effective In The Long Run?

Question by nutnut12342002: Why Do Dentists Say Implants Are More Cost Effective In The Long Run?
When they are not really are they?

i have to pay £30 ($ 60) every 3 months to make sure i’m cleaning it right, £5 ($ 10) for brushes and floss every 3 months.

£16 every 6 months to see the dentist

and then £120 ($ 240) for whiting every year and i have to have that now to match the colour of my teeth.

so i am talking a dental bill of £270 ($ 540) a year for life until i die for having 1 dental implant.

i must admit i never thought that id have to go throuhg all this cleaning shite when i paid £1,900 to have it put in, i always thought once you had an implant thats it and forget about it.
