How to bring my period back?

Question by Camelia: How to bring my period back?
My doctor put me on the pill because of horrible period pain, but I had to stop taking it after 5 months, the side effects were a real problem for my body so the doctor told me to stop taking the pill anymore. I am 30 years old and have never taken contraceptives before; this was the first and last time; it has been now 7 months since i am no longer on the pill and my period still hasn’t come back, I have just a very light spotting which I cannot call period, please girls if any of you has experienced this, I just want my normal period to come back, it wasn’t light or heavy before being on the pill, it was normal flow, and I just want it back; since I have no period anymore, I feel headaches and very fainted with no strength in my body; I just want to know why my period stopped completely since I started the pill and why it hasn’t come back even now after 7 months from stopping taking the pill; I need an urgent response, what are these contraceptive pills doing to my body? Had I known, I would have never taken the pill from the beginning. In 4 days time I have an appointment with a gynecologist, I want an explanation from them.

Before taking the pills, I was just fine

Lower back pain and lower abdominal pain. Please help?

Question by ccathy: Lower back pain and lower abdominal pain. Please help?
I had my period a week ago and still have a lower abdominal pain on my right side. It felt like a period cramp, then I got my period. Now, it’s been a week after my period and I still have cramps. I also have lower back pain. When I bend down or move to a certain side, it hurts a lot!
I am fighting against bulimia. Could this be the cause?
Please help me find an answer. I have an appointment with my gynecologist in two months. Should I wait until then?

You could be right, but first you should really get checked out for appendicitis. That means ER without delay. It may have nothing to do with your cycle. Once you’ve done that, read on…

Zinc deficiency has been linked to eating disorders, might be worth thinking about that. Furthermore zinc is important in ovary function.

But be aware that deficiencies can take several weeks or longer to correct by supplementation, so give it time and don’t exceed RDAs without specific advice. Also look up natural sources of zinc, they may be better absorbed.

So yes, it could be related, but also because your hormone levels may be a bit discombobulated by your dietary situation.

Definitely worth asking for an ultrasound scan of your ovaries, in case you have cysts. Many possible causes if that is the case, but it’s suggested that talc is often found in cysts, and is also sometimes used in the manufacture of condoms, for what it’s worth.

Another possibility is endometriosis, which can mean a laproscopy to confirm. If this is the case it can often be helped by dietary means, so as you say, sorting out your dietary matters may hold the key to much of this.

Obviously this is the internet, so do your own research too, and don’t rely on Yahoo answers, but there should be enough to help you get started there. Try searching natural treatment of eating disorders.

Not out of the question either that you have a kidney stone, so another good reason to pop down to ER right away and not wait two months.

Good luck.

Maybe it is just the bill. When I came off the pill it took 5 months to get my periods back. And even then I was spotting each month. Like you described.

Pain in vigina, pelvis and back?

Question by Me: Pain in vigina, pelvis and back?
Please help, I had a swollen vigina a couple of days ago, but that got better and now I have pain in one side that is very uncomfortable, I cannot point out exactly where is the pain, whether it is inside the vigina or labila!!! I have alot of pain in the pelvis the same side and now in my lower back also the same side,,,
I don’t know if I had an infection (yeast infection maybe), although I do not have any of the common symptoms except the swelling. This swelling has occured 4 times now after my last 4 periods straight away. I went to see 2 doctors both gynecologists after the swelling has gone and they said they cannot see it and cannot therefore tell me what it might have been.

Please help, any suggestions? the swelling is now gone as I finished my period 3 days ago, but i have constant pain on one side in the vigina/labila, pelvis and lower back? I have never been sextually active and therefore clear of any STDs and such and is 25 years old.

Has anyone tried Kati Basti to treat lower back pain and sciatica?

Question by Leyna: Has anyone tried Kati Basti to treat lower back pain and sciatica?
I have spondylolisthesis which is where one vertebra is overlapping another in my lower spine, and and I get a lot of pain and stiffness around the centre of the bottom part of my spine, pain around the sacrouiliac joint and sciatica. I read that Kati Basti was supposed to help – has anyone ever tried this or any other type of massage treatment for lower back pain? I have already seen two chiropractors and two physiotherapists, all for months at a time, and none of them have helped very much. Any advice would be appreciated!

lower back pain, I have suffered from it for the last ten years, the solutions are:

Walking, swimming, going to steam room or jacuzzi once a week to get heat. If you can move to a hot country and keep away from the cold you will be treated from it completely. The cold weather make it worse.

Answer by kbtny
Yes it is possible. Regular exercise (cardio and light weight training) and a healthy diet can help you get back in shape. But be warned its not going to happen quickly it may take months up to a year. So do not be discouraged with your self if you see no results right away. But if you are consistent with working out and eating a good diet than you can get back in pre-baby shape. Good Luck

How can I make my back stronger?

Question by Marmota roja: How can I make my back stronger?
I had a horrible pregnancy with daily back aches, I’m quite tiny and I got a big belly. I want to get pregnant again next year but I really want to sort this problem out. I don’t have obviously any pains now but my back seems to be very rigid and I cannot even sleep facing down any more because it hurts. I started Pilates but it seems very gentle and I’m not sure I will get to the point that I want to reach.
Should I go to a physiotherapist? Should I try any other kind of exercise? Many thanks.

Answer by Confused
I think Pilates or Yoga would be a great option for you. Maybe start off with a session with a personal trainer who specializes in yoga or pilates, to show you the exercises that can work that are best.

Should I go back to the doctor?

Question by Lilly Porter: Should I go back to the doctor?
So, I had knee pain (for around 3years)and so went to my doctor who sent me to get a x-ray, this was done and the doctor at the hospital told me I had muscle wastage and the plate was out of line (forget the exact details) and sent me to a physiotherapist who told me my pelvis and knees were out of alignment (I’m pigeon toed or something and that’s how he could tell) or something due to puberty as well as the wastage, and gave me exercises to do and an appointment to return. I went home and did them for a while but stopped as they were painful, it took too much effort and it only seemed to make it worse. I didn’t return to the appointment as I hadn’t done the exercises. Only two years on and I still have the pain after sitting for long periods of time. I tried positioning my feet a little outwards as I walked but this proved to be painful and uncomfortable in my knees.

my fear of the dentist is holding me back – how do I get my mum to take me?

Question by hans: my fear of the dentist is holding me back – how do I get my mum to take me?
as you guessed from the title – I’m terrified of the dentist, I’m 13, and I haven’t been since I was about 7 or 8, and it’s taken it’s toll on my teeth.
I remember why I was afraid – my mum only took us to the dentist when we had toothache, and when she was taking me, she went into the bathroom and fainted, so my brother had to take me in, he’s only 3 years older than me, so I was terrified, only to have the dentist have a go at me for the state of my teeth(when I was younger with my milk teeth I didn’t brush regularly – no lectures please)and then used some tiny saw or drill thing on me, and ever since, I’ve been too scared to go to the dentist, even though I know I need to.
I know I have cavities, and over bite and my teeth are just in general pretty bad, but the last time I tried saying to my mum I needed to get this sorted now she scared me even more by telling me that the dentist would have a go at me even worse than when I was 7/8.
I dunno what to do, I don’t know whether I should lie and say I have toothache, then go in alone and tell the dentist my real problem, or whether I should ask my dad instead, cuz I know he’s always been annoyed at the state of my teeth, but he lives in cambridge, so I don’t think he could do much quickly.
Please help, I just want this over and done with instead of it leaving and getting worse(heck, for all I know I could have something serious like gum disease…)

You are entitled to free NHS dentistry so now would be an ideal time and age to sort the mess out.
Sounds like your mother is the root cause of your imagined fear and concerns. So you do need to see for yourself how it has all changed and how painless and stress free it can be.

So you not have a grand parent or aunt or uncle that will help you and go with you. You do need a adult to sign the paperwprk but it can easily be signed as a guardian. Or simply ask your dad to help you.

Yes, the dentist may comment on your dental health but you simply say my mother had a dental phobia and would not let me come.
