Face Lift Surgeries: Mini Face Lifts, MACS Face Lifts and Traditional Face Lift Surgery

Face lift surgeries including mini face lifts, MACS face lifts, brow lifts, chin lifts and more are more prominent now than they have ever been in the past. Especially in America, face lift surgeries are being conducted in record numbers. They are not inexpensive though; expect measurable price tags. Whichever determination you may choose, having a face lift surgery performed will take away years of the attained effects of stress, the elements, gravity, and the aging of time.

Mini (weekend) face lifts:

• Can ordinarily be performed in about an hour and 1/2;
• Have very few associated side effects and/or postoperative difficulties;
• Display quicker recovery times, normally within one week;
• Develop long-lasting outcomes;
• Aids in restoring confidence levels and create increased social activities;
• Relatively inexpensive when compared to other types of facial enhancement surgeries;

MACS face lifts:

• MACS = Minimal Access Cranial Suspension;
• Originates minimal scarring that’s easy to conceal in the hairline at the sideburns;
• Causes very little bleeding;
• Requires no general anesthesia or IV-drip sedation drugs;
• Cost about 33% of the price of a full traditional full face lift surgery;
• Requires between two and three weeks to recuperate from;
• Less risky than full face lift surgeries;

Traditional full face lift surgeries:

• Require about four hours to perform;
• Nationwide average cost of $6000 plus the costs associated with prescriptions, testing and anesthesia;
• Requires about four weeks to recover from an up to several months to heal entirely;
• Invasive. Loads of tissue manipulation and therefore possible:
◦ Bleeding;
◦ Swelling;
◦ Bruising;
◦ Hematoma;
◦ More…

From performing the least invasive mini face lift to a fully-loaded, traditional full face lift surgery, your board certified facial plastic surgeon can help you to reverse the affects that decades of sunlight, wind, stress, worry and pain have had on your face and neck.

News From the Annual Conference of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons

The 2009 conference for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons was held in Seattle during the last week of October. Here are some highlights from the research that was presented:

Stem Cells Help Speed Healing in Peripheral Nerve Injuries

Fat-derived stem cells appeal to speed healing in peripheral nerve injuries. This type of injury is major and can cause paralysis. In the study presented, researchers analyzed differences in healing between rats with sciatic nerve injuries that were treated with fat-derived stem cells versus rats with similar injuries that were not administered with stem cells. The rats that had been treated with the stem cells showed a marked improvement at 3 and 6 month intervals. The researchers hope their findings can be applied to speed the healing process in humans as well.
